As it should be in any central point of services of a tourist region, the trades in Sort offer a wide choice of products ranging from food, to clothes, gifts and souvenirs, or anything that visitors may need to make their stay as pleasant as possible.

The most autochthonous products to be found in Sort are artisan wooden works, mainly saltcellars and clogs, as well as miniature tools –used in the past to work the lands and fields-, which are being produced on a small scale by the 4 local artisans. These tools can be found in specialized trades and fairs or street stalls.

The artisan cheeses have become a singular trait and deserve a separate chapter in the part of native products. There are 2 existing dairies in the municipality, Tros de Sort and La Peça d’Altron, and some more around the county. The incredible variety and excellence of cheeses in this time and place satisfies even the most demanding palates; lately, the work of dairies and restaurateurs, moving together in the same direction, has resulted in a truly artisan production and in a creative and innovative cooking around the products. Therefore, it is not difficult to find pizzas with any of the artisan cheeses, maybe Serrat del Triadó or Tou dels Til·lers, colt hamburger with Tou dels Til·lers or a traditional veal tenderloin with tupí cheese…The cheeses can be easily purchased in any food trade, local grocers and delicatessens.

The cold meats, as it would be expected in a region with its roots in livestock breeding, are another product to be tasted and acquired: the king is called xolís and the queen, girella. The xolís is very similar to another sausage known around as salchichón, made with pork; the girella, native of our county -and the neighbouring ones, too-, is made using lamb and rice. On the occasion of a Carnival stay, you may try the “Facit de Carnaval”, made with pork and raisins.

In terms of sports equipment, there are some remarkable sports shops, specializing in high mountain and river materials, located in the main streets of the town. There you may buy, rent or repair, anything related to kayaking, ski and mountain biking.

The lucky witches of Sort areone of the most typical souvenirs associated to the famous lottery office in Sort as well as the mythology of El Pallars. You may find witches in different sizes and styles in the gift shops around the town.

Books and tales of El Pallars, a present from the pallaresa culture, by means of the works of the local authors, or maybe by authors who have been inspired by the landscapes of the county and have decided to set their stories here.
